Now, as a wedding photographer, I revel on how no two weddings are the same. Each wedding is styled different and it makes the job so interesting. But every so often you get to work with a couple who completely blow your mind with the plans and vision they have for their wedding. Let me introduce Zara and Jonathan. Now, I'm not going to give any spoilers to their wedding later this year (watch this space!) but believe me, over the past 12 months since I first met them I've been left open mouthed with the plans Zara has to make her day not just special to her and Jonathan but also spectacular and, importantly for her, something her guests are going to love and talk about for years.
So, it came as no surprise when Zara approached me saying she wanted to do something different for her pre-wedding photoshoot. I'd had an idea in my head for a while to do a photoshoot in the classic Jesmond Cemetery designed by John Dobson, the architect whose work can be seen all over Newcastle upon Tyne. Zara loved the idea so we met up on a chilly Saturday morning and had a stroll around the cemetery. If you haven't been there before, I recommend you park up and have a look around. It is simply stunning in there.
Anyway, here are a selection of shots from the day. Look out for Zara and Jonathan's wedding here later this year.

Pre Wedding Photoshoot - Katy and Neil at Marsden Beach, South Shields, Tyne and Wear
When people ask why I do pre wedding photo shoots with my couples I tell them it's to:
a) get to know the couple better and vice verse. I never want to be a stranger on their big day. It's important for them to feel comfortable with me
and
b) to defuse the nerves about having their photo taken. Most people say to me they hate having their photo taken. The pre wedding photo shoot is designed as an hour of fun to show the couple there is nothing to worry about.
And this was definitely the case with Neil and Katy. We decided to have a stroll along Marsden Beach in South Shields. It was a glorious warm Sunday afternoon. It couldn't have been better. We spent an hour or so on the beach messing around skimming stones etc. I was impressed with Katy's shoes and how effortlessly she scrambled over the rocks in them!!!!
In the car park afterwards, Neil said "I was really nervous about doing this today. I was really nervous about getting my photo taken on the wedding day. But this was so easy! There's nothing to worry about is there?" My point proved! :o)

Pre Wedding Photoshoot - Louise and Ryan's Urban Photoshoot in Newcastle upon Tyne
When i first mentioned to Louise and Ryan about where they would like to have their pre-wedding photo shoot Louise said she'd like to incorporate the heritage of the area. My initial reaction was the shipyards at Swan Hunters in Wallsend but unfortunately they are now long gone. So we opted for what Newcastle is best known for; The River Tyne, it's bridges and the surrounding architecture. They both wanted something a little funky too. So, on a brilliantly warm and sunny Sunday morning in March we had a stroll around The Toon, had a lot of laughs and giggles, turned some heads and even fought crime.....it's a long story. If you want to know, email me!

Vicki and Lee's Pre-Wedding Shoot - Jesmond Dene
Vicki and Lee's pre wedding shoot took place on a beautifully crisp and sunny morning in October. We decided Jesmond Dene would be perfect as the leaves were still on the trees, they were a mixture of greens, golds and browns and the sunlight coming through them would be magical.
They were both complete naturals in front of the camera and a joy to capture. I can't wait for their wedding in January....look out for the blog for their wedding!
