After all the cold, wet, snowy, windy weather we've had so far in 2010 it was a relief on the morning of Alison and Paul's wedding to wake to near clear blue skies and a light wind. A sunday morning in March, this was the first real day of Spring.
This was to be a small intimate wedding set in the beautiful Longhirst Hall near Morpeth in Northumberland. Paul had asked for "simple" shots, but upon seeing the lobby where the ceremony was to take place, "simple" would be a struggle. With masses of natural light flooding the stunning lobby, the artistic juices started to flow. Thankfully, Paul also acknowledged how stunning the setting was and agreed we needed to mix it up a bit, blending simple, traditional shots with more contemporary and artistic shots.
Alison looked amazing as she floated down the staircase into the lobby. There was a real sense of nerves and excitement while reading their vows.
With a singing harpist playing incidental music during the ceremony, a swing singer during the reception and a stunning cupcake style wedding cake, this "simple do" as Paul put it, was a dream to capture.
After they returned from honeymoon in Portugal, Paul and Alison were kind enough to say the following:
"We would like to say a big thanks for the excellent job you did for us at Longhirst the other Sunday. You really got everywhere on the day, in such a stealthy way that we hardly noticed you were there- great! We're excited by the index prints you delivered"
