Durham Castle Wedding - Lynne and Shaun

Lynne and Shaun's wedding had it all!  A bit of sun, a bit of rain, a lot of fun and laughter, quirky touches AND a guest appearance from two superstars of the music world!

On the morning of the wedding, Lynne got ready at her parents house, the house she grew up in.  She had some lovely retro touches to her day including her shoes!  There were some lovely moments in the house including seeing Lynne's son steaming her veil for her over the kitchen sink!

At St Cuthbert's Church in Durham (A beautiful building set in a fairly overgrown churchyard), Shaun joked with the arriving guests before taking his place and providing the vicar with a disc of music.  (It always comes back to the music with me!).  I had a wander outside to get a few shots and returned to the sound of The Clash "Should I Stay or Should I Go" blasting out.  The vicar had a face of pure horror!  I loved it!

When Lynne arrived, Shaun looked back up the aisle completely in awe.  It looked like his breath had been taken away!  After the first hymn and a short address by the vicar she announced that Shaun wanted some music played and for everyone to listen.  After a few seconds fumbling with the remote control to the sound system, the vicar found her place, pressed play...... "I WANT TO BREAK FREE!  I WANT TO BREAAAK FREEEEE......"  The unforgettable and magnificent voice of the late great Freddie Mercury blasted out.  Horrified the vicar frantically tried to stop the CD and eventually found the track she was looking for....too late.  The entire congregation was floored!!!  With the laughter dying down Fleetwood Mac's hauntingly beautiful "Songbird" from the album Rumour played out over the congregation.  It's one of those songs that makes me shiver and it's certainly one of my favourite love songs.

With the ceremony done, and the group pictures completed in the grounds of the church the main wedding party made their way to Durham Cathedral for some pictures before being piped into Durham Castle by a piper and 2 drummers although it wasn't to everyones satisfaction.....

So, who were the two superstars of the music world who appeared at Lynne and Shaun's wedding....none other than Elton John and Kiki Dee! I've said it before in my blogs over the past 9 months, all my weddings this year have been fantastically individual....Shaun and Lynne had a first karaoke song singing Don't Go Breaking My Heart.

Despite the rain in the afternoon, the spirits weren't dampened.  By the time the inflatable guitars, wigs, tutus and glow sticks had been delivered to each table, the party was well alive!

Another great day at the office!
