Busy busy busy

It's been a frantic week.

We started off at the Focus on Imaging Event at the NEC in Birmingham on Sunday.  It was good for a number of reasons.  First, we decided to take advantage of the trip by booking a hotel for the Saturday night, get the kids of to Jo's parents for the night and chill out.  Just in one night, we managed to relax, put our feet up and most of all get some focus (no pun intended) on what we need to be doing with the business in the next 6 months.

Second, the exhibition itself was amazing.  We went last year when we were thinking about starting JP Photography, so it was a bit of a blur.  This year we had a plan, knew what we needed to do, got it done and more.  We've found a new supplier for our wedding albums and prints which turns out to be just round the corner from us too.  So we can now look at a more varied approach with our wedding packages.

I have also obtained my membership with the British Institute of Professional Photographers and now plan to go forward to gain qualification status with them.

We've also had a rush on enquiries and have a pre-wedding consultation planned for the weekend with all indications pointing towards the couple booking our services.

The only downside is with a commercial customer who is now over a week overdue paying a bill for a shoot we did for his company and is now avoiding our calls and emails.  This is the last thing any small business needs and is really frustrating, especially when you have suppliers who need paying.

Despite the knocks though, I firmly believe we will be a better company.  We've had a few knocks along the way so far and have overcome each one with positivity.  It's a lesson my dad used to preached to me and I continue to use that philosophy today.
